Trinity Boston Connects (TBC), a respected social justice nonprofit, is seeking a Director of Development and Communications (DoDC) to join this dynamic and fast-growing community change organization. The mission of Trinity Boston Connects is to heal the traumatic impact of systemic racism in Boston, and to create a more equitable Boston in which youth of color can thrive. We work through the integration of racial equity, trauma-informed approaches, and restorative justice practices (our 3 Essential Community Practices) in service of youth, youth workers, and youth-serving organizational leaders and staff. We are looking for an individual who believes passionately in the mission of Trinity Boston Connects, is personally committed to racial equity, and is willing to learn about trauma-informed approaches and restorative justice. If you are interested in becoming part of a team that ‘walks-the-talk” and are looking for a challenging position with growth opportunities, then please consider the following detailed description and apply!
The Organization
TBC was born out of the social justice mission of Trinity Church in the City of Boston. We envision Boston as a fully equitable city, where systemic inequities are eliminated for youth of color, so they can enjoy equal status and access to resources as their white peers, grow up in healing and just communities, and thrive as leaders. Our programs create safe and supportive communities that inspire youth to develop the social-emotional learning (SEL) skills necessary for academic, life and career success. TBC helps to develop these skills through three Youth Development & Leadership (YDL) Pathway programs: Trinity@RuthBatson, Trinity Education for Excellence Program (TEEP) and Sole Train: Boston Runs Together, providing direct services to over 600 youth and families. TBC aims to represent the community it serves – primarily youth and communities of color. TBC is led by a Black woman, Charmane Higgins. TBC currently employs 10 full-time and 2 part-time staff members (67% POC) and a 19-member Board of Directors (50% POC). These statistics represent an intentional shift in TBC’s leadership and organization-wide makeup.
