Pipier Smith-Mumford || Senior Lecturer, Boston University, Wheelock
Pipier Smith-Mumford has been a forerunner in efforts within the ‘schoolhouse’ to influence education policy and reform. During her 19-year tenure as principal in Brookline, she facilitated progressive, collaborative strategies, inclusive of the diverse voices of all who work with young people. This included leading staff development on issues of racial equity and the opportunity gap. Working with graduate students at Boston University Wheelock School of Education and Human Development’s Education Leadership and Policy Studies Department, Smith-Mumford is the Field Director for the doctorate in education program and is a senior lecturer for courses at BU Wheelock. She also consults with local school administrators and faculties on issues of equity, and coaches and mentors newly appointed school leaders. Dr. Smith-Mumford received her BA from Smith College; her Master of Education from Harvard University Graduate School of Education; and her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from Boston College, Lynch School of Education.
